Here are what some of my clients have said. I've used a variety of different methods to deal with different problems. Due to confidentiality I've kept the names privates, but include the age of the child and issue addressed.
"Hi Tammy,I have been meaning to drop you a note to say it's almost been a month, and our Son is sleeping really well. I have been hesitant to say anything for fear of jinxing it (!), but we started the later bedtime the evening following our call, and it worked straight away! He has not made a 'peep' when we've put him down in his cot, he just rolls over and puts himself to sleep. Over the weeks we have pulled back his bedtime to somewhere between 8 and 8:30pm with the same results. We have also eliminated the night feed, and he does occasionally still wake once in the night, but my husband goes in and just resettles and then he is fine.We couldn't be happier, and all of us including our helper look much more rested!I just wanted to send a note of thanks. I fully expected to be told so many things we were doing wrong, and didn't think that changing his sleep time would have such a profound impact. It also helped us eliminate the bottle during the nights much more easily knowing he was tired and ready to sleep through. So again, big thanks,"

Mother of 13 month old, napping problems
"How are you? I write this email to you to thank you for some of the recommendations that you have provided for me last month. I can see improvements to my son's sleeping habits.
Changes seen during the past 3 weeks
Used to: My son used to wake up 3-4 times a night to be either carried or breastfeed to sleep.
Now: Joshua only wakes up once or did not wake up at night now. If he wakes up once, I just breastfeed him for about 10 mins and he was asleep.
Used to: Takes 2 naps during the day. One at 10am - 11.30am & the other nap at 3.30pm -5.30pm
Now: Joshua takes one nap in the afternoon, from 1pm - 3pm (about 2 hours or less).
Used to: Won't sleep till 11.30pm or 12mn.
Now: Joshua knocks off at 10.30pm - 8.30am (about 10 hours sleep with one waking up at night or sometimes never wake up at night)
Used to: Do not have a sleep routine (like quiet play, get change into pyjamas etc)
Now: I cleaned Joshua and changed him to pyjamas at 9.45pm, have some quiet play in the bedroom with his sister, (like singing and feeding him) and he'll be asleep by 10.30pm. Sometimes, he is still not in his deep sleep but I'll put him on the bed and pat him to sleep. Yes, he did make some fuss, but a few minutes he'll be asleep.
Used to: Sleep in the stroller during nap time.
Now: He sleeps in the bed or a mattress on the floor. He sleeps about 1hr 30 mins to 2 hr for his nap.
I did not put Joshua in another room as we do not have enough room. There are 3 bedrooms in our flat. One is converted to a study room, another is for my husband's parents and the last room is our room where Joshua and my elder daughter sleeps. The changes I've for Joshua is instead of putting in his bed, I've put him to sleep on our bed. That means he sleeps with his sister and myself while my husband sleeps on the floor.
Joshua seems to like to sleep with his sister next to him. He & his sister are sleeping next to each other.
I can see great improvements in his sleeping habits and I do not have to wake up so many times now. At least, I wake up once at night. I've better sleep now, but felt strange as I used to wake up quite a number of times, thus sometimes, I still wake up and peep. Hee...
Thanks for your help. "
Mom of 15 month old, sleep association problem
Thank you for your guidance and providing so much information to help facilitate a smooth sleep routine.
Just to share with you what I did last night. I tried giving Jayden a bath and massage last night at 6.45pm and he fell asleep at 7.15pm till 5am this morning for his feed and soon after he went back to sleep till 7.30am.I also tried to ignore his fussing for a while this morning at 9am and to my surprise, he fell asleep by himself after 10-15mins and his sleep lasted for 1.5 hrs.
My husband and I are really grateful for your kind advice and guidance which helps Jayden to get his sufficient rest as well as for ourselves.
I will follow this sleep routine as closely as possible and hope Jayden's sleep rountine will improve as days goes by. Once again, thank you for your great help Tammy.I will contact you should I have any further clarifications.
Best Regards, "
